Former Giants WR says team culture needs ‘a little bit of work’

Sterling Shepard was back at MetLife on Sunday, but this time in a Buccaneers uniform.
Before Tampa Bay routed the Giants, 30-7, the former former New York receiver talked about the state of his old team.
“I feel like [the Giants] are a couple of pieces away from being a really good team,” Shepard told the New York Post last week. “I think they have a lot of solid pieces there. When it comes to the culture and everything like that, I’ve gotten a chance to see the way things are done on a different hand but I think there could be maybe a little bit of work there.”
Shepard was a 2016 second-round pick of the Giants and spent eight seasons with New York before parting ways this offseason. He joined the Bucs on a one-year deal, reuniting with former Oklahoma teammate Baker Mayfield.
“It’s just different, in so many different ways and so many different levels,” he said. “When it goes down to the small things, what you can do in the building as a player, the way you’re able to communicate and be hand-in-hand with the coaches, it’s just a lot of different things I kinda picked up on being there for so long. Even down to the training staff or the weight coaches and some of the different stuff that we do here, it’s a difference.”
Shepard was targeted seven times on Sunday and had five catches for 16 yards.
The Giants fell to 2-9 with the brutal loss to Tampa Bay and will head to Dallas on Thursday to face the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
